Our increasingly diverse society is reflected in growing workforce diversity. Leading organizations acknowledge that working successfully with others who do not share the same background, beliefs or traditions is a top priority in the new workplace. Employees need help in assessing their behavior toward people who are different from themselves. And they must understand the benefits of changing negative attitudes and resistance into appreciation and cooperation.

Designed to help individuals look honestly at themselves to identify attitudes and behavior that stands in the way of teamwork, Discovering Diversity Online provides a safe way to explore complex, powerful issues.

Build a Bridge to Understanding

A code provides confidential online access to questions that take 10-15 minutes to complete. The immediate result is a 20-page personalized diversity report that allows individuals to explore their own viewpoints on workforce diversity in four key areas:

Knowledge: discover what a person actually knows about differences by looking at stereotypes, as well as the source of that knowledge or information.

Understanding: decipher their level of awareness and explore their willingness to put themselves in a position to feel what others may be feeling.

Acceptance: tolerance examines their patience and regard for respecting different beliefs and behaviors.

Behavior: interpersonal skill assesses how they act out their attitudes toward others, their flexibility and openness in dealing with others and their self-awareness of patterns of interaction.

The online version has an expanded diversity comfort level grid with specific scores in the areas of stereotypes, information, awareness, empathy, receptiveness, respect, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills. The report also provides detailed action plan worksheets for directed discussion in the four diversity areas of knowledge, understanding, acceptance and behavior.

Gain Insight, Take Action, Value Diversity

Discovering Diversity Online helps people in your organization:

  • Discover their personal comfort level with people different from themselves
  • Understand the impact of their behavior on others
  • Assess the accuracy of their knowledge about differences
  • Limit the influence of stereotypes
  • Reduce conflict
  • Transform knowledge into acceptance and empathy
  • Embrace diversity as a source or organizational strength

The personalized narrative feedback paves the way for a more meaningful learning experience.  Each section contains feedback about those items that need attention, several suggestions for improvement, and an expanded action plan.  The report can be easily organized into segments for more effective group facilitation and coaching applications.

The Group Report provides a snapshot of the group in four key areas of diversity development.  Facilitators and trainers use it to quickly zero in on the needs of the participants, the group, and the organization.  All of the information is anonymous, so the report can be used as a facilitation tool while safeguarding the confidentiality of the respondents.
